I\u2019ve been looking forward to Leon. Jeff Johnson, a friend of 50 years has joined me for the remainder of the trek. \u00a0We decided to take two days in Leon and stay at a Parador. The Parador\u2019s are hotels owned by the Country of Spain and mostly housed in Medieval monastaries. A Selfie in front of the parador.<\/p>\n

The Leon Cathedral is known to have amazing stained glass windows, so we headed there first.<\/p>\n

I saw the Kings of Leon last night. No, not the musicians. The Royal Pantheon where the Kings of Leon, Spain are entombed.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an 11th-century Romanesque funeral chapel housing the tombs of 11 kings, 12 queens, and numerous princes and nobles from the Kingdom of Le\u00f3n. Known as the “Sistine Chapel of Romanesque Art,” it is celebrated for its exceptionally preserved 12th-century frescoes.<\/p>\n

Gorgeous! The pantheon is part of the Bas\u00edlica de San Isidoro. No cameras allowed so I borrowed a few photos from the web.<\/p>\n
