Lorraine and I traveled to San Diego for the changing of the guard at Lamb’s Theatre. The five people who have served as the leadership team for 50+ years will retire from their leadership positions on December 31st this year. The new leadership team began their tenure on June 7th, exactly 55 years since they filed for incorporation. For seven months the management will overlap to make the transition smoother.

I’ve known them and worked with them on and off for since the mid-70s. It is an honor they’ve asked me to put the history of the theater together. At the same time I feel like Michael Corleone when he said, “Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in.’ Especially since I’ve been out of book publishing since 2005. My deadline for the finished product is June 7, 2027, although in my years of publishing I loved watching deadline fly by.
